In this past year my life has grown in ways I could never imagine. I have welcomed into this world a tiny creature that needed to be raised from a mewling mouth to, eventually, a caring adult. I have always been attracted to the concept of Mother Earth; that she cares for us and we need to look after her in return. My imagination is filled with the twisting branches of trees entwined with the beauty of the human form. It was impossible to resist the call to make a new painting in celebration of life.
This piece revolves around the exhausted fringes of new motherhood, and the tentative, brilliant color that is strange and confusing at first, but grows into the world as the days become weeks, months, and years.
