Queen of Yesterday

...

“We were to be the kings and queens of yesterday, before it all came apart. This is a story to be told, but I am not certain how much justice I can, or will, do it. I have already unraveled so much, and I start to come apart at the seams.

In the beginning, if there can be said to have such a thing, we were naught but the dreams of man and woman, stories told. We existed before them, yes, but we did not live until we knew them. They wanted what we had, and we wanted what they had. We stole their kin, and they murdered ours. Great wars, things I never wish to remember, let alone speak of, raged. Whether in our dreams, or reality, that is the question. What came, came from there. Something wicked, to be certain. Was it us, or them?

I do not think, to this day, anyone knows, girl.”
