Maggie and Bear

Maggie and Bear

"D'ya ever wonder what's up there?" she asked, giving a glance skywards before returning her gaze to her hand.

Bear looked over his shoulder for a moment, quietly thinking before he grinned ever so slightly. "No, never really needed too. I know what's up there."

Her eyes lifted from the fallen star, avoiding the sky to look up at her companion, she didn't need to ask why.

"Oh, because..." he smiled again, shifting his brooding gaze back to the sky, watching the stars in their slow travels. "One's old soul knows where their home will be next. Might be in ages and ages, but we'll go home one day, when our souls are too big for our earthly bodies."

She pursed her lips at that and managed a nod. "I don't think I'm old enough yet."

"No... no you're not, my friend," chuckled Bear, his warm fur shaking with the movement of his laugh and the night's breeze. "But one day, you'll understand." Bear smiled again. At her and the heavens above.

Bear is my little sister's 'safety blanket'. I had given her Bear when she was born (she's 10 years younger than me), and the circus clown dressed bear would cause so much trouble. She refused to sleep without him, or go on car rides without him. He has a new shirt on because he had been worn out so much, and I believe there is also a 2nd bear just incase the original got lost. He's retired now, sitting on a shelf in her room, I think.

Please leave some thoughts behind...

interesting. I first saw Bear as a rock until I read your caption. and figuratively, Bear could be seen as a rock.

love the light-dark contrast between Bear and the sky. and the flowers add innocence and a a sense of normality.

This one caught my eye first. It's beautiful Laura. I don't know very much about art like you, but I know art is anything that makes you feel a kind of emotion. It makes me feel serene.

I saw this first as Maggie imaginatively creating Bear out of the air and snow and stars, by holding out her left hand, and through Bear she is linking to the Goddesses of the Earth, the Sky, and the future ... in this way, Bear won't ever be retired. The print I just bought of "The Safest Place" brings out so much of the beautiful detail of what you paint from your heart, Bear will be the next one!

And now Bear is at the framer's up here, a favorite wedding present [the bride chose this one too.] She and I both love Bears. As Maggie does!
