We came from the trees


This started off with an idea for a self portrait. So I sat around drawing pictures of ME a lot (Namely, closeup, boring portraits of my face. Whoop-de-do, right?).. then I got the bright idea to finally try and explain myself to you all.

So... this is one of the hair-brained ideas I've got over the last few years about why I am attracted to trees.

Go outside in the winter and look at them (if you have trees around you that drop leaves, sorry southerns...) What *I* see tends to be veins, like that in the human body. Everything around us that's living has them, even the inner part of the trees, so it would make perfect sense that Mother Earth has veins like us too.

Those are my blue shoes, my unruley long and messy hair, and a mimic of a dress my mother made me AGES ago that I've worn near threadbare.

I am so happy to see you "back in business" I had just found your web site months ago & you were pretty pissed & sounded like you were "packing it in"

Glad you're back!

This is an exquisite self-portrait! With your bio and relation to trees, it comes off so clearly; very good impressionialism!

Please keep me posted on any further paintings/drawings!

The dress is that color green? You don't have veins like that on your legs.. I do!!! Guess it was worth Dad planting all the trees around the yard after all!!! (and I thought it was for the environment)

Dear "Fallenlights.net",

I love some of your work and the history of how they came about. It would be very helpful to me if you'd sign and identify your work. I have a folder made up where I've saved your work, and I pride myself on always naming the folder after the artist, but I have NO CLUE who you are. Your artwork deserves to have your name on them. You're very good and very talented and the world should have a monicker to address and honor.

I think the amazing part about this picture is that the girl seems almost too graceful to have such large movements like that. Her right foot, the one behind the other, is far off the ground. And her arms are swinging, supposedly, carelessly by her sides, but it could be that it is a deliberate action. This girl has so many mysteries for us to uncover.
