Bird's Last Sigh
What my thought that inspired this was, was from my childhood. I'm still ashamed of it 20 years later, and the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind brought it rearing its ugly head up again.
At first I wanted it to be literal. The three of us, two 'friends' (we just happened to live next door and they were my sister and mine's age). They basically, goaded me on til I cracked and we ended up all agreeing to kill a bird. It's always haunted me in the back of my head, and I believe that it's something that I can never get forgiven for, even though the peer presure was there and we were under the age of 8.
That we "didn't know any better".
Which is total bull. I knew exactly what was going to happen. I just didn't really believe that I *did* it.
I tried to draw it literally. I had posted the sketch of it as well, but I couldn't look at the paper for more than 15 minutes before shutting down photoshop and going to do something else.
So that's what I came up with.
It's not going to fix things, not going to make things better for my memories, but it's a way to have it rot a little bit less.
